The Beauty of Destruction

A disatrous fire in Valparaíso started in Valparaíso when we were walking through the city. Ash started raining and the smell of burnt wood was omnipresent. We actually stayed in in Viña del Mar close to the city and when we returned the sunset and the fire mixed to this surreal view. To think that this fire was one of the biggest disasters in Valparaíso and we saw only the beauty in it makes me sad, but what could we have done?
Now we are safe in Nothern Chile in the middle of the desert. So dehydrated, but even more beautiful nature around...

Things I've lost so far...

... my sleeping mask.
... hair pins, tons of it. and those i was given by someone else, also lost them.
... socks. but always just one, not a whole pair.
... my pencil case with most of my favorite pens.
... my smartphone. twice. thank god i still have my sim card.
... my sleeping bag.
... and probably my sunglasses, because i cannot find them right now.


bad track record, what can i do. be more careful? sure. it's just weird that i get nothing stolen, but instead lose everything. as one girl in santiago put it so nicely: "you like to share your stuff with everyone". in valparaíso right now, feeling the fresh ocean air of the pacific ocean. wonderful ♥
